A good friend of our family gave us this helpful book. I have been getting some helpful tips from it as Fair’s nausea has increased with each cancer treatment.
2 days ago she finished the first round of intense chemotherapy. She is taking milder chemo for the next 2 weeks until the 2nd stage starts where she takes intense chemo for 5 days again. She is projected to take 4 stages of chemo before possible surgery to remove any residual cancer.
The doctors and Fair’s mom and I have agreed to use the most aggressive cancer treatment with the potential for the most side effects because of how advanced her cancer is. Please pray that along with the cancer being eradicated that Fair will continue to handle the side effects well and that there will be no long-term side effects.
Speaking of long-term side effects, I have some great news. Our insurance company approved for Fair to receive a very expensive drug that replenishes white blood cells since the chemo kills so many good ones that our body needs to fight diseases. I am so thankful for this. I was prepared to join the ranks of those who have to argue with their insurance company to get the needed treatment. Fair’s mom and I are prepared for when we need to do that and we appreciate your prayers that she will continue to get the medication she needs when she needs it.
Despite Fair’s nausea intensifying she has been able to keep down food and drink. Yesterday afternoon before I made the switch with her mom to be at the hospital with her, she was feeling the best she had in awhile and asked me to bring her a loaded baked potato from Wendy’s when I came. That is a good sign right?!
The doctors have been working to transition Fair to be able to go home as early as tomorrow or Thursday. Please pray that can happen.
Thank you for all your prayers! We have seen so many answers to prayer already. God is good.
